Martha's Rice pudding

1 quart milk
1 cup sugar
½ cup uncooked rice
¼ teaspoon salt
Nutmeg

Lucy's Note: This was always one of Martha's favorite deserts - a traditional Swedish method.

Heat milk in a double boiler; Stir in the sugar, rice and salt and a pinch of nutmeg. Cook in the double boiler 2½ hours. Stir after ½ hour and 3 more times while cooking. Sprinkle with nutmeg and refrigerate overnight before serving.
