For cookie dough:
3½ cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
½ cup sugar
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 egg
1 cup molasses
½ cup milk
1 cup raisins
For butter frosting:
3 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons boiling water
Pinch of salt
1½ cups sifted confectioner's sugar
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together. Cream the sugar, shortening and spices. Add the egg and beat well. Add the molasses and milk and mix. Add the dry ingredients and raisins. Spread ¼ inch deep in shallow greased pans. Bake at 350- degrees 20 - 25 minutes
Prepare frosting: Cream butter; add boiling water, salt and vanilla. Slowly add sugar, stirring constantly until creamy.
Cool in the pan, and when almost cool, spread with icing. Cut into squares or diamonds.
