1 cup sugar
1 cup sour cream
1¾ cups flour
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon cloves
½ teaspoon allspice
½ teaspoon nutmeg
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon soda
Lucy's Note: Since they used all fresh unpasteurized whole milk from Jensen's farm, they often had cream that soured, which they saved and used in recipes like this one.
Sift together the dry ingredients. Beat sugar and egg together. Add sour cream. Add dry ingredients. Pour batter into 1 round layer pan or square baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes - or until a toothpick in the center comes out clean.
